Montezuma
Embrace the Magic of Nature and Community

This places is full of sun, waterfalls, beautiful white sandy beaches, and so much more. Good restaurants, yoga retreats, canopy tours, organic markets, surfing schools, and even spas help make Montezuma a comfortable destination for international travelers - but the real magic is the life that pulsates here in a colorful mix between the beautiful nature and the people.

Montezuma  is one of the few tourist destinations that has managed to conserve its environment from coastal developments. Today this region has more than 1600 hectares of protected forests, which are part of the Cabo Blanco Absolute Nature Reserve, the Romelia Wildlife Refuge and the Nicolás Wessberg Reserve. Although these may be a mere 63 hectares large, they protect a great legacy for the country.

It was here in Montezuma, that Doña Karen and Nicolás Wessberg called home and initiated the protection of wild areas of Costa Rica in 1960.

Now a days, Montezuma community keeps that legacy and locals and visitors work together to cleanup beaches from plastic pollution, raising awareness and teaching healthy habits for protection of the planet.
